 Leave
Izmir for Sardis, the capital of ancient Lydia in southern Turkey.
The churches of St. John, the ruins of the temples to
Cybele and Diana, and a 4th century Basilica can
all be found in amongst the picturesque ruins of Sardis. See
the golden River Pactolus and the Royal Road before
visiting the reconstructed synagogue and the gymnasium.
After
lunch in Sardis, return to Izmir. (L)
